Why do republicans insist on blaming democrats for Fannie and Freddie when it was a republican congress that..?

Democrats ped the 'law' you talk about along with winning a 1995 lawsuit by Obama that set up this whole sub-prime thingy... and then stood up there in congress and voted down the one(McCain's) that would have stopped it. Now they are up there pretending to 'fix' it. Clearly it has ruined our financial institutions and stock market.
