As already said above, the simple translation is: "sunlight through tears of rain". However, the expression sounds quite "poetical", I mean, nobody would talk like that, colloquially or seriously...! Maybe, your friend was mentioning an Italian poem, which I'm unable to recognize, unfortunately. Maybe, he himself is a poet!
