What is the casue of this pain in my throat?

I have had this pain in my throat for at least a week and a half now. It is not a typical sore throat. it's a different kind of pain than of that of a normal. It feels more almost as if I am being choked mildly; it feels more centered around my Adam’s apple and it feels awkward to swallow and worse even when I swallow after I yawn. The pain is constant and will not go away. I tried gargling with warm salt water and Listerine to no avail. I am quite worried about this and I would like some help on this please.
